Counting Down .....
Three ...... Two ...... One ..... and away we go!!  Jim and I have taken care of a myriad of details; we have selected clothing for travel; we have arranged for the house to be well cared for; we have checked and double checked our passports and money; we have given away our plants; and we have purchased enough catfood to last for 3 full months!! Wednesday, August 1 is the day ...... first we fly to Los Angeles and then on Thursday we will be off to Tahiti!!
We want to share our adventures with you through this blog. Assuming we have internet access (a bit spotty on some remote islands around Tahiti and on our cruise), I will be writing a diary and posting it here on a regular basis. If you wish to follow along with us, all you need to do is register your email address at the top of the Blog Home Page and a message will come to you each time I add to the blog.
We look forward to hearing from you along the way. News from home always makes us feel well connected across the miles.
Next update will come from Papeete, Tahiti!
Come along with us, at least vicariously.

Just about ready ......

Sunday, August 22, 2012

Well, we have only 10 more sleeps before we fly!! And the list of things to do before we leave keeps getting longer. As I sit here creating this blog, Jim has gone out shopping for some new shirts and assorted other things that will go into one of our suitcases. My goal for this trip is to travel light, something I have never achieved before. Summer clothes only for now ...... and shopping trips planned along the way.
For those of you who are curious about our itinerary, this trip is a more ambitious one that we have taken for the last few years. We are starting in Tahiti (4 weeks) and then heading on to Australia (also 4 weeks). After that we will spend 5 days in Singapore and 2 1/2 weeks in Turkey. We will arrive home on October 26 with lots of stories, photos and hopefully some Christmas shopping completed as well.
Having never used a blog before, this is a new experience for me. So, I would appreciate your help. I am about to send a group of people the address for this blog. Can you please let me know if you were able to access it? That will help give me the confidence to continue to share our adventures in this manner ...... or that I need to go back to the drawing board and figure out this technology more completely.
Thanks in advance for your help.
